Backups
Tax Systems uses Serverless SQL provided via Microsoft Azure UK Cloud services. Serverless SQL is replicated between Microsoft UK South and UK West Regions and retained for a period of 35 days.
Replication is monitored and checked automatically utilising Microsoft tools. In addition, Tax Systems perform sample restore tests throughout the year.
All data is encrypted at rest and transit.
Disaster Recovery
Tax Systems utilises Microsoft UK West and UK South Regions for hosting. Each region is made up of multiple Data Centres, which provide site level redundancy. Should one site fail, the others within that Region takeover with no loss of service.
Should the UK South Region become unavailable (primary/live hosting presence) Tax Systems will work with Microsoft to restore the service to the UK West Region, where Tax Systems has allocated resources. In the event the UK South Region is unavailable, Microsoft have made it clear that performance and responsiveness commitments of the UK West Region would be affected and therefore restoration timescales cannot be guaranteed.
Tax Systems estimates restoration of the service to take between 48 and 72 hours from declaration of a disaster.
